Henry County Water Authority

     The franchise of the Henry County Water System includes the entire county with the exception of the Corporate Limits of Abbeville, Headland and Newville, and the service areas of the two other rural water systems. The Henry County Water Authority (HCWA) was formed in 1977 for the purpose of constructing, operating and maintaining a countywide water system for parts of Henry County not served at the time. A three member Board of Directors appointed by the County Commission governs the Henry County Water Authority which owns and operates the Henry County Water System.

     Henry County is a county of the U.S. state of Alabama. Its name is in honor of Patrick Henry, famous orator and Governor of Virginia who said the famous line, ”Give me liberty or give me death! “. As of 2000, its population was 16,310. Its county seat is Abbeville. Henry County is part of the Dothan, Alabama, Metropolitan Statistical Area. Abbeville is a city in Henry County, Alabama, United States. It is part of the Dothan, Alabama Metropolitan Statistical Area. At the 2010 census, the population was 2,688. The city is the county seat of Henry County. It is the first city alphabetically, both by city and state, in the Rand McNally Road Atlas. It is home to two high schools: Abbeville High School and Abbeville Christian Academy. It holds chapters of the Red Cross and Habitat for Humanity.
